Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: The Motion Picture was a 1973 documentary and concert movie by D.A. Pennebaker. It features David Bowie and his backing group The Spiders from Mars performing at the Hammersmith Odeon, July 3rd 1973.

Bowie had taken the stage persona of "Ziggy Stardust", a science fiction based, theatrical, enigmatic, androgynous bisexual character and produced two albums during this period. This evening was the last show in the concert tour promoting Bowie's 1973 album Aladdin Sane and the 60th gig in a tour of Britain that started on May 12th.

At the end of the evening, aptly just before the song "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide", Bowie announced that, Not only is this is it the last show of the tour, but it's the last show that we'll ever do. To the audience it was unclear whether he meant as Bowie or as Ziggy but he had at that moment killed off his Ziggy persona.

Comments

It would be helpful if you could describe if this is the PAL version (already available) or an NTSC conversion.
I believe it's NTSC. It's a US distribution. Also encoded region-free...not positive if that makes a difference.
I have ONE comment on thisone. You make a really COOL torrent. Why the hell didn't you make a DvD? This rocks. But I'm not going to download it. Make a DvD.......

Thanks. I might make a DVD if some other people express interest. The problem is that the DVD is obviously larger and the quality isn't that much better than the XviD AVI. I'm trying to make the most of my bandwidth.
P.S. For less than $40 these days, you can get a DVD player that's DivX compatible. It will play XviD as well. That may be a good workaround to having to DL DVD only torrents or try to convert XviD to DVD.
I do XviD almost exclusively. Here's why:

Bandwidth and HD space make it hard to seed full DVDs. Also, since huge torrents take more time to DL, they're harder for everyone to share.

In my experience, XviD is fine for viewing, and since this whole deal is about sharing, anyone really concerned about DVD quality over sharing with the community can spring for a Netflix acct.
thanks eh
thanks a lot for this.

xvid and divx copies are good for developing countries and others that don't have very speedy and cheap internet. :p

AND you can back them up easily using dvds etc. :p you can easily buy a blank DVD-5 here in my country for only $0.17. this is converted from our currency. :p
oh and this is part of 100 greatest rock and roll movies of all time.

chek it out. :p

thanks a lot!

xvid (or x264 now) is the best medium to share over torrent. P2P is too slow to host DVD's on. If u want a dvd, buy it or use usenet.

saying that xvid is for developing countries is decadent! and that makes you a stereotype.
Jeez quit whining about the file format and the quality! Yer gettin' it fer free ya cheap bastards!
